Our 20 year Story

Our History

In 2001 Cymaz Music was established and spent the next 20 years running music for well-being programmes in the heart of Cornwall's communities, schools, educational and health settings. But it's time for a few changes as Chair of Trustees, Trevor Smith explains:

"Over the last 20 years we've been acknowledged as musical innovators and we want to celebrate that achievement. That's why we are excited to announce our decision to re-brand and change our name to Music for Good. We feel confident that this name really communicates the values we hold at the centre of our music practice."

Who we are and what we believe.

Music for Good (formally Cymaz) is a charity and non-profit company based in Cornwall.

We are a learning and outcomes driven organisation and our work is underpinned by research and evidence which puts people and their well-being at the very centre.

Our focus and expertise on inclusion and equality since 2001 informs every aspect of our practice and has become our core business.

Our organisation has grown from the grass roots, developing meaningful activities, partnerships and providing life changing music and creative opportunities for children, young people, adults and communities across Cornwall.

Social Care

Our Vision

Our vision is to create a world where we understand and value each other with a landscape of learning that is person centred.

We aim to develop the sector promoting inclusion and social cohesion as we go and work to break down the barriers of exclusion, poor health and lack of opportunity that prevent people from accessing the transformative world of music making.

We believe in the positive and life-changing powers of Music.

We believe that all people, regardless of age, circumstance or background should be able grow, live well and reach their potential.
